Which Oklahoma State football players will be honored on Senior Day?

STILL WATER – Oklahoma State The final home game of the season arrives without much fanfare other than the opportunity to celebrate more than 20 players who will take the field for a game at Boone Pickens Stadium for the final time.

OSU has 20 players who will exhaust their eligibility after this season, and 12 other seniors who will likely be honored, but could return next year.

OSU set to host Texas Tech at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at BPSbroadcast by ESPN+.

“These guys won a lot of games,” Gundy said of the outgoing class. “They have been very committed to the organization. These guys got really good degrees, minors and some of them are double majors and post graduates.

“But their commitment to the organization has been really special.”

Here’s a look at the players expected to be honored as part of Senior Day on Saturday:

Seniors with no remaining eligibility

Cole Birmingham, offensive lineman

Despite missing the better part of two seasons due to injuries, Birmingham is a long-time starter, playing multiple positions on the offensive line during his career. He has started every game at left back this season.

Korie Black, cornerback

One of CowboysThe most reliable defender of his career, Black has started 36 of the last 37 games and appeared in 60 total. Over his career, he has 90 tackles and four interceptions and is expected to be among the Cowboys’ most coveted picks in next year’s NFL Draft.

Alan Bowman, quarterback

The seventh year senior was a key part of the Cowboys’ 10-4 season a year agopaving the way for several second-half comebacks, including Bedlam’s eventual victory. Bowman threw for 5,874 yards with 31 touchdowns in his two OSU seasons.

Cale Cabbiness, receiver

The former Norman North High School walk-on has carved out a big role for himself since his redshirt freshman season of 2021, when he made a game-tying catch at Boise State. Also helping as a kickoff returner, Cabbiness has appeared in 37 career games, earning a scholarship ahead of the 2023 season.

Collin Clay, defensive tackle

After starting his career at Arkansas, then suffering an injury upon arriving at OSU, Clay became an indispensable part of the defensive interior. The Putnam City product has 46 career tackles, including 7.5 for loss and 2.5 sacks.

Dalton Cooper, offensive lineman

After a solid career at Texas State, Cooper became OSU’s starting left tackle for most of his two seasons before a foot injury sidelined him this year. The native of Prague has made 56 career starts.

Obi Ezeigbo, defensive end

A transfer from Division II Gannon University, Ezeigbo earned a starting role after Collin Oliver was lost to injury and he responded well. In 10 games as a Cowboy, he had 35 tackles including 8.0 for loss and 3.0 sacks.

Tyler Foster, tight end

The Ohio transfer joined the program last January and has appeared in every game this season. He worked primarily as a blocker, but caught three passes for 19 yards.

Kobe Hylton, safety

Another transfer who only had one season at OSU, Hylton overcame early injuries to put together a solid final season with 34 tackles and an interception.

Joe Michalski, offensive lineman

One of several sixth-year senior offensive linemen, Michalski became a starter late in the 2021 season and has been a regular at center ever since. Among offensive linemen, he may be the best prospect of the group in the NFL.

Taylor Miterko, offensive lineman

A frequently used starter and reserve in his era, Miterko was a valuable part of the offensive line throughout his six-year career.

Rashod Owens, catcher

After playing various receiver positions early in his career, Owens became a starter midway through 2023, earning MVP honors at the Texas Bowl. He enters Senior Day with 1,547 receiving yards and nine touchdowns.

Brennan Presley, catcher

Cemented among all-time greats at Oklahoma StatePresley enters his final home game three catches shy of 300 in his career. The Bixby product is already OSU’s all-time leader in that category and one of four Cowboys to reach 5,000 all-purpose yards, along with Thurman Thomas, Barry Sanders and Terry Miller.

Xavier Ross, defensive lineman

A versatile defender who played inside and on the edge during his six seasons at OSU, Ross appeared in 39 games, accumulating 33 career tackles including 7.5 for loss and 2.5 sacks.

Trey Rucker, safety

A transfer from Wake Forest who joined OSU in 2021, working his way into a starting job last year. During his career at OSU, he compiled 191 tackles and four interceptions with two fumble recoveries, including a game-ending recovery in double overtime against BYU last year.

Jake Schultz, fullback

Since leaving Prague six years ago, Schultz has played linebacker, defensive end, tight end and fullback, while also filling a regular role on special teams. He enters his final two games with seven tackles and six receptions for his career, but his value goes far beyond his stats.

Jake Springfield, offensive lineman

Initially a backup in 2019, Springfield earned a scholarship as a redshirt freshman in 2020 and has since been a starter for most of his career. The sixth-year senior has been limited by injuries this season, but has started every game at strong tackle while healthy.

Kody Walterscheid, defensive end

The younger brother of former Cowboy Cole Walterscheid, the brothers are coming to the end of an 11-year streak with one of them on the roster. Kody concludes a six-year career that includes 75 tackles including 7.5 for loss and 4.0 sacks over a 58-game career.

Preston Wilson, offensive lineman

The sixth-year senior lineman has started at nearly every position on the offensive line at some point in his career, settling in at right guard this season. He appeared in 57 career games, starting the majority of them.

Justin Wright, linebacker

A transfer from Tulsa ahead of the 2023 season, Wright has been hampered by injuries during his time at OSU. He had nine tackles in six games when healthy.

Seniors remaining eligible

DeSean Buckner, cornerback

A native of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Buckner appeared in four career games and also served as a scout team player.

Aidan Davenport, long snapper

Walk-on transfer Bucknell has served as a backup this season.

AJ Green, running back

After transferring from Arkansas, Green suffered a serious leg injury last spring and redshirted without ever appearing in a game as a Cowboy. The Tulsa Union product can return next year if he wants.

Kenneth Harris, cornerback

A transfer from Arkansas State, Harris has been used in a backup role this year and is expected to compete for a starting job next year if he chooses to return.

Da’Wain Lofton, catcher

A transfer from Virginia Tech who joined the Cowboys last summer, Lofton struggled with injuries early in the season, then appeared in four games, but opted to redshirt and preserve his final year of eligibility.

Garrick Martin, security

A Stillwater native and backup transfer from Emporia State, Martin has appeared in 19 games over the past two seasons, mostly on special teams.

Collin Oliver, linebacker

Although the Edmond Santa Fe product has one year left, Oliver accepted an invitation to the Senior Bowlsignaling the end of his career with the Cowboys. A 2021 Big 12 defensive freshman, Oliver concludes his time at OSU with 134 tackles and 23.5 sacks, which ranks fifth all-time among the Cowboys.

Wes Pahl, punter

A transfer from Western Kentucky, Pahl served as a part-time punter, primarily used on distance punts. He averaged 46.4 yards on 46 attempts over two seasons with a yardage of 73.

Kyler Pearson, receiver

A Tulsa Union graduate who walked on after spending time at Kansas and Tennessee-Martin, Pearson appeared in nearly every game this season, getting work as a kick and punt returner.

Jeff Roberson, linebacker

Limited by injuries earlier in his career, Roberson moved into the starting linebacker role when Nick Martin was injured this season. The Choctaw graduate has 60 career tackles through 36 games, with 46 stops this year alone.

Kason Shrum, place kicker

The son of OSU President Kayse Shrum, Kason was a backup kicker for three seasons after beginning his college career as a football player at the junior college level.

Quinton Stewart, tight end

A reliable blocker throughout his career, Stewart has appeared in 37 games, with the statistical highlight being a 2-yard touchdown run in the 2022 Bedlam game.
