Mark, 50, served the nonprofit credit union as secretary, money laundering manager, vice president and president, but with a job change and a move to the Land of Wales, he decided it was an opportune time to move on.

Mark said today: “I will always have the fondest memories of my time with Just, from the early days, sitting at the Shirehall and not saying much – just to understand what it was about – until be able to make a full contribution to its strategic direction.

“The last decade has certainly seen the organization go through seismic changes, both internally and externally. We faced a pandemic and cost of living crisis, reaching out to our members when they needed it most. We’ve invested in technology and kept Just Credit Union relevant over the years.

“I am very proud that, along with so many other credit unions, Just remains a vital part of the glue that holds society together, ensuring that everyone has access to affordable credit.”

He continued: “All staff and board members can be rightly proud of their role and contribution to this vital service. None of this happens by chance, it takes hard work and a whole team bringing together different skills, but all with a commitment to our ethics and core values.

“On a personal level, as well as being closely linked to my own values, volunteering on the board of directors has been a great help in my career, working at a strategic level in finance-related areas , governance and policies. I have no doubt that it has benefited my career progression.

Mark added: “As Just has grown, so has the board, in terms of skills and diversity, ensuring Just has a sunny future at the heart of the community.

“I loved my time on the Board, the in-person and online Zoom calls, sitting around a table in the Shirehall, and our ‘Days Away’ strategy. I know I am leaving it in good hands with a very bright future.

June Campbell, who succeeded Mark as chairman, said: “We all owe Mark a great debt of gratitude for his unwavering commitment to Just Credit Union and the people of Shropshire.

“I particularly appreciate his positive attitude, no matter what the world throws at us, and his uncompromising desire to provide the best possible service to our members.

“It is good to know that Mark has found volunteering as a board member rewarding and that it has helped develop his professional skills.

She added: “If you think you could be the next Mark Perez, inquire about joining the Just Credit Union Board of Directors by emailing [email protected] and requesting a recruitment pack for the board of directors. »
