City of Toronto Updates Traffic Closures for Remaining Taylor Swift Eras Tour Concerts

The City of Toronto has updated its traffic closures for the remaining Taylor Swift Eras Tour concerts in response to trends seen during last week’s events.

“Adjustments include postponing some closures to earlier times while removing some planned road closures as we have gained information about crowd entry and exit during the concert series,” the spokesperson said. of the City of Toronto, Laura McQuillan, told CityNews in a statement Thursday afternoon.

“This has helped improve lines outside the Rogers Center while ensuring people can exit the area safely and efficiently after each show.”

Here’s what’s happening in downtown Toronto on November 21, 22 and 23:

1:00 p.m. road closures: The westbound lanes of Bremner Boulevard, between Rees Street and Navy Wharf Court, will be closed to traffic. Eastbound lanes will be open to traffic in both directions.

Local traffic (residents who live nearby and businesses) will only be allowed on Bremner Boulevard between Spadina Avenue and Simcoe Street, the southbound lanes of Rees Street (which will be converted to two-way traffic as northbound lanes close), the Blue Jays lane between Spadina Avenue and south of Front Street West (except Marriott Hotel traffic) and Navy Court Wharf (a police checkpoint will be in place).

Lake Shore Boulevard West will be reduced to two lanes westbound at Rees Street to facilitate a pick-up and drop-off point.

9:45 p.m. road closures: The eastbound and westbound Gardiner Expressway exit ramps will be briefly closed to allow people to better exit the Rogers Center.

10:00 p.m. road closures: Front Street West will be closed between John and Simcoe streets.

Toronto city officials said all road closures should be lifted by 1 a.m. the next day.

They also noted that additional last-minute closures could be put in place if necessary to facilitate crowd management.

Toronto officials reiterated that public transit is the best way to get around downtown, given the number of people there.

A TTC spokesperson said there have been no changes to the agency’s additional services, but a Metrolinx spokesperson said UP Express has seen additional demand from visitors staying at the airport and that additional trains had been made available. Additional GO Transit trains have also been added as part of the broader plan for all Taylor Swift concerts.
