Trump announced Thursday evening that he would nominate Bondi to be the nation’s top law enforcement official, citing his work as a prosecutor.

“Pam was a prosecutor for nearly 20 years, where she got tough on violent criminals and kept the streets safe for Florida families,” he wrote in a social media post. “Then, as Florida’s first female attorney general, she worked to end deadly drug trafficking and reduce the tragedy of fentanyl overdose deaths, which have destroyed many families across our country.” Trump said he has known Bondi for years.

“She’s smart and tough, and she’s a fighter for AMERICA FIRST, who will do a tremendous job as attorney general,” he said.
