The bosses of La Liga giants Barcelona are prepared to postpone contract talks with Iñaki Peña until the end of the campaign.

It is according to Sports Worldwho on Thursday gave an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in the Catalan capital.

Goalkeeper Peña, for his part, has of course been catapulted into a much more important role at Barcelona this season.

After Marc-André ter Stegen was sentenced to a long spell on the sidelines, the Spaniard was tasked with becoming number one.

And it must be recognized that Peña has done a solid job so far.

Keeping Wojciech Szczęsny on the bench, the 25-year-old was given 11 appearances, scoring four clean sheets along the way.

As mentioned above, however, if the latest words coming from the media are to be believed, then Peña has yet to convince in the Barcelona boardroom of his long-term prospects with the club.

According to a report from Sports World:

“For the moment, Barça does not want to rush to offer a contract renewal to Iñaki Peña. Before making a decision, the sports management will wait to analyze (his performance over) the entire season.

Peña’s current contract is set to expire in the summer of 2026.
