Deion Sanders’ future as coach continues to be a key topic of discussion.

In recent weeks, the Pro Football Hall of Famer put to rest questions regarding a possible move to the NFL. Sanders has repeatedly told reporters (and former Cowboys wide receiver Michael Irvin) that he plans to stay in Colorado.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was asked about his thoughts on Irvin’s apparent recruitment of Sanders and Coach Prime’s ability to succeed at the professional level.

“Well, I would say how much I’m in the camp for Deion’s success and what he is, how he became the coach that he is today. It’s not surprising,” Jones said Thursday on 105.3 The Fan (KRLD-FM). “He’s just as great an athlete, and a very great one, he’s just as much of a person and just as much, he’s got the kind of energy, and he would jump at you as someone who would inspire and lead young men.

“I think we’re way ahead of ourselves from where and when he decides to coach in the NFL.”

Jones also praised Shedeur Sanders, Deion’s son and Colorado’s starting quarterback.

In a recent interview with Fox Sports’ Colin Cowherd, Irvin said he believes Deion Sanders “100 percent.” would take over as head coach of the Cowboys if the franchise drafted Shedeur. Deion and Shedeur Sanders are currently in the midst of a successful season at Colorado, leading the Buffaloes to an 8-2 mark while contending for a Big 12 title game and a College Football Playoff berth.

Jones revealed how impressed he was with Deion Sanders’ recruiting skills at the college level, saying it’s a skill that can help the former defensive back when he makes the jump to the pros.

“I mean, kids want to come play for him and he has a way of selling it.
