You can choose from 3 timer options to make messages disappear

What is the story

WhatsApp allows users to send messages that automatically disappear after a certain period of time.

This feature, called “disappearing messages,” is another step toward improving user privacy in a world where conversations leave trails of text, images, and videos.

To use the disappearing messages feature, users must first enable it in their WhatsApp settings.

Disappearing Messages Settings

Go to your WhatsApp Settings > Privacy > and search for “Disappearing Messages”

You can then choose from the available timer options: 24 hours, seven days or 90 days.

When enabled, all new individual chats will begin with messages disappearing for the duration you selected.

It’s important to note that disappearing messages settings only apply if messages are not kept by the recipient in the chat.

Keep disappearing messages

In a WhatsApp chat, any participant can continue to fade messages to prevent them from disappearing until the set time has elapsed.

A saved message remains visible to the conversation participant and will not disappear even after its designated duration has expired.

If you as the recipient want to keep a message, long-press it and select the Keep option. To view it, tap Chat Info, then tap Saved Messages.

Unreserved notifications and messages

The sender of the message controls who can keep it, adding another level of control over its shared content.

If a recipient keeps a message you sent, WhatsApp will notify you.

If you choose to “unkeep” a message, no one else in the chat will be able to keep it again.

WhatsApp gives you approximately 30 days from the date the message was saved to delete it.
