Super Bowl champ rips Steelers’ Justin Fields package: ‘I don’t like it’

After a bad red zone appearing on the Baltimore RavensCalls for a Justin Fields package have grown more than ever, but former NFL and Super Bowl safety Rodney Harrison strongly disagrees that they need to be a thing. In fact, Harrison thinks the Steelers should throw the Fields package out the window.

Harrison pointed out how disjointed the Steelers’ packages seemed and what to take Russell Wilson off the field disrupted the flow of the offensive.

“I don’t like when you have a quarterback like Russell Wilson, he’s in the game, he’s moving around the field. They have momentum. These guys are used to him, his voice, his cadence, and then all of a sudden, on the most important down, you take out Russell Wilson,” Harrison said on Pro Football Talk. “And to me, the package isn’t even a great package because you know 90 percent of the time he’s going to be the one running the football. And I just don’t like that. I thought they were sometimes too cute with it. Just keep the starting quarterback.

Fields had an explosive run down the sideline, but he found himself in a fourth-and-2 rush and failed, and more importantly, failed to convert a key third-down when he bombed down the sidelines towards George Pickens in the snow.

Overall, Fields’ plays in the time they were called up were meaningless. The Steelers clearly want to integrate a Fields package into their game plan, but at the moment the team’s ability to deploy him seems questionable to say the least.
