Parents barred from returning following incident at child’s school in Beachwood

BEACHWOOD, Ohio — The mother and father of a young student have been banned from returning to their child’s school, and the mother has been charged with disorderly conduct following an incident at the elementary school Hilltop.

On Nov. 12, at 3:15 p.m., police were called to Hilltop Elementary School, 24524 Hilltop Drive, where a teacher and staff members told officers they had been threatened by a student’s mother third year.

Because the school’s public address system wasn’t working, a third-grade teacher let her students out late from their last class of the day. The students therefore missed their bus ride home.

The teacher arranged for another bus to pick up the students. This bus arrived in just 5-8 minutes and took the children straight to their homes.

The mother of one of these students noticed that her child had not gotten off the bus on a regular schedule and went to the school to complain. The woman screamed and wanted to know when her daughter would arrive home.

Not satisfied with the response that the child would be home as soon as the bus arrived, the angry mother said the teacher was “lucky he didn’t beat her (expletive)” and also threatened to beat her.

She said the matter was “unacceptable” and a case of “negligence” on the part of the teacher. The teacher has had other unpleasant encounters with the mother in the past.

Other school administrators and teachers were present when the mother also allegedly yelled several things at the group, including that one of them was a “(expletive) Trump lover.”

School staff members, even after the mother had left the property for 30 minutes, asked police to escort them to their cars.

Police went to the parents’ home and cited the mother for disorderly conduct. The child’s father also showed up at the school after the mother arrived, but did not say anything against the staff.

Police also spoke to Beachwood Schools Superintendent Robert Hardis about the matter.

The mother and father were asked not to return to the school grounds before June 3, the end of the school year, under penalty of being arrested for trespassing.
