Google revamps Circle to Search with new button for additional features

  • Circle to Search’s app drawer is rolling out to more users, bringing subtle changes to the UI and hinting at even more features to come.

  • Google Lens is back after being replaced by Identify a Song in October, but it’s now buried in the app drawer, which could slow down users who rely on it.

Googles Circle to Search has made it very easy to find anything on your screen, regardless of the app. Now it looks like Google is preparing to go even further. A few days ago, we got a hint that the search giant was planting the seeds of a veritable amusement garden at Circle to searchand now it is rolling out a new button for some users for additional functions.

As spotted by Mishaal Rahman, Google’s new app drawer for Circle to Search is rolling out to more users. He recently appeared for the first time in the beta version of the Google appmaking subtle changes to the UI and hinting at even more features on the way.

The new look is a bit chunkier, with UI elements nestled in a rounded box. The most notable change, of course, is that the Google Translate button is gone, replaced by a handy app drawer.

This adds an extra click, but it’s smart as Circle to Search grows

The move to an app drawer means that features like Google Lens and translation now require additional support, but that’s in line with the increasing complexity of Circle to Searchs. As new tools are added, the app drawer paves the way for future features without cluttering the screen or changing the search bar.

The app drawer makes it easy to access features like Translate,Identify a song,” And Google Lens. The best part is that Lens is back after being replaced by the Identify Song button in October. Removing the Lens shortcut was a disappointment for many. This was very handy for quick visual searches. The app drawer is useful, but you have to tap for extra time, which could slow things down for regular Lens users, especially those who rely on it for things like translating text or identifying plants and animals .

It would be great if Google allowed users to customize the app drawer, bringing their actions to the forefront for quicker access. Although this feature is still early, we hope that future updates will bring this much-needed customization option.
