Butch Patrick struggled to “commit to sobriety” after becoming a star.

The 71-year-old actor was just nine years old when he was cast as werewolf child Eddie Munster on the CBS comedy series “The Munsters.” He explained that once he came of age and started drinking in Hollywood circles, he “felt accepted.” in a way he had never done before, but he struggled to completely let go of it in the years that followed.

He told Fox News Digital: “I couldn’t wait to go out and party, and when I did party it allowed me to be accepted by my peers because I never really felt comfortable on the Hollywood scene.

“I had a few friends who had gotten sober who I would call every now and then after a bad mastery or a week off, and then I would tiptoe around.

“But I wouldn’t drop a stone and make that commitment.”

The former ‘I Dream of Jeannie’ star – whose real name is Patrick Alan Lilley – explained that he never “hit rock bottom” with his alcoholism but just got to the point where he had enough of being “sick and tired” and was 14 years old. later, he realized how much he had “gained” by giving up alcohol.

He said: “I never really hit rock bottom to the point where I didn’t have any money and I didn’t have a house, you know, I wasn’t like in an alley with kind of brown paper bag. But I I knew I was really tired of being sick and tired You know, I was tired of feeling like shit.

“My life improved dramatically very quickly. I took it like a fish to water and never looked back. I helped others and I give back, you know, paying it forward , that’s exactly what I’m doing now and I’m sure I wouldn’t be with friends, with a lot of wonderful people that I’m friends with now if I hadn’t, so I. gave up a little, but gained a lot.
