‘General Hospital’ Star Chad Duell Announces Departure from Series After 14 Years

Chad Duell, who played Michael Corinthos in General Hospital for 14 years, leaves long-standing position ABC soap opera.

In a Instagram post On Saturday, Duell shared the news, saying, “After many incredible years with ‘General Hospital,’ I have decided to step away from the show. It wasn’t an easy decision for me, but it’s the right time in my life. I am beyond grateful to Frank Valentini, the cast, crew and everyone behind the scenes who have been like family to me throughout this incredible journey.

He concluded his message with sincere gratitude to his supporters: “Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your continued support and for allowing Michael Corinthos to be a part of your life,” Duell wrote. “Your love and encouragement mean the world to me. It’s not goodbye, it’s see you later.

At this time, it remains unclear whether Michael’s role will be recast.

Duell first stepped into the role of Michael in 2010, replacing Drew Garrett. The character is the son of AJ Quartermaine (previously played by Sean Kanan) and Carly Spencer (currently played by Laura Wright). In 2015, Duell received a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.

In 2022, The Young and the Restless The former Robert Adamson temporarily took over as Michael for eight episodes and returned to the role briefly in October of this year.

Duell’s exit follows the departure of another General Hospital veteran, Kelly MonacoWHO left his role as Sam McCall in August after more than two decades on the series.
