    Two of the major franchises in the NFL, the New York Giants And Pittsburgh Steelersmeet him “Monday Night Football” In Week 8.

    The Giants have a reputation as an NFL standard-bearer, but they haven’t lived up to it in recent years. With a 2-5 record on the season entering Week 8, the Giants are in the NFC East cellar with a handful of problems. The biggest, however, is the one under the center: Quarterback Daniel Jones has yet to find the consistency to make Brian Daboll’s scheme work at a high level, resulting in one of the worst offensive attacks in the NFL.

    Jones was put under a microscope, but Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen each received a vote of confidence from owner John Mara before the Week 8 game. This could lead to a changing of the guard under center in the near future for the Giants, if the confidence of the team’s brain trust is to remain intact .

    Speaking of the changing of the guard, the Steelers I bet on Russell Wilson in week 7, and it paid off very well. After benching Justin Fields in favor of Wilson, Pittsburgh’s offense hummed in its 37-15 victory against the Jets: Wilson threw for 264 yards and two touchdowns in his first action in a Steelers uniform, placating critics who questioned Fields’ benching.

    Now, the two maligned quarterbacks – unfairly or not – meet in front of a national audience.

    Longtime Pittsburgh linebacker and father of current Steelers cornerback Joey Porter Jr. riled up the crowd by waving a “terrible towel” before kickoff. The Steelers received the opening kickoff to start the game after the New York Giants won the draw and was postponed.

    The Steelers vs. Giants game is the only “MNF” game of Week 8. It will kick off at 8:15 p.m. ET at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh.

    The next and final double bill “MNF” of the 2024 season – is intended for Week 15.

    • TV channel: ESPN | ESPN2 (“ManningCast”)

    ESPN is the broadcast home of “Monday Night Football”. Joe Buck (play-by-play), Troy Aikman (color commentary) and Lisa Salters (sideline reporter) will be on the call.

    ESPN’s popular alternative show, the “Manning Distribution” returns. Eli Manning will have the opportunity to speak about his former team alongside his brother Peyton. Monday evening guests include Bill Belichick – who is a regular guest on the show for the 2024 NFL Season – as well as Pro Football Hall of Famers Lawrence Taylor and Bill Cowher and rapper/actor LL Cool J.

    Fields (hamstring) was listed as questionable and was a game time decision . Kyle Allen will be Russell Wilson’s backup quarterback.

    Despite benching Daniel Jones in Week 7, the Giants appear ready to stick with his struggling quarterback . According to ESPN’s Jordan RaananJones took all first-team reps this week in practice. He added that the six-year veteran should not be kept on a leash.

    After the blowout loss to the Eagles, head coach Brian Daboll notably defended Jones after the benching and explained why he would remain the starter.

    “I think he gives us the best chance, the first.” Daboll said. “I thought there were a lot of plays where he was doing exactly what he needed to do, and then look, there were plays where it wasn’t just on Daniel (Jones). It was a combination of things. It wasn’t just about a person, a protection or a route. — Nick Brinkerhof

    In March 2022, the Giants signed Jones to a four-year, $160 million contract with $82 million guaranteed. The deal also included incentives for playoff appearances, division titles and playoff victories, provided Jones played at least 65% of snaps.

    The contract also included a potential opt-out for the team after two seasons if the Giants were not impressed with the quarterback’s performance.

    The $82 million in guarantees includes only Jones’ salaries for 2023 and 2024, plus a prorated signing bonus. After the 2024 season, the quarterback’s cap number drops from $69 million to $22 million.

    According to AccuWeathertemperatures during the game are expected to be around 60 degrees at Acrisure Stadium, near the confluence of the Allegheny, Monongahela and Ohio rivers. No rush is expected during the match.
