Andhra Pradesh Police team reached RGV’s house in Hyderabad-Telangana today


Hyderabad: A team of Andhra Pradesh Police on Monday visited filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma’s residence in Hyderabad after he failed to appear before them for questioning in a case related to publication of derogatory content against Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and his family members on social networks.

Officers from the Ongole Rural Police arrived at the home of the controversial director, who faces arrest in the case.


The drama was intense when the police learned that the filmmaker was not at home. He would have left for Coimbatore.

RGVas he is popularly called, had not appeared before the police on Monday.

Last week, he asked for four days to appear before the police.

There are allegations that he tarnished the reputation of CM Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister. Pawan KalyanMinister of Information and Technology Nara Lokesh and others.

On November 11, police filed a case against the filmmaker following a complaint from a local. Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Ramalingam.

The complainant alleged that RGV made derogatory comments against CM Naidu, his son Nara Lokeshother family members and actor-turned-politician Pawan Kalyan during the promotional activity of his film ‘Vyuham’ late last year.

The filmmaker had posted objectionable comments on social media platforms.

A case falling under section 336 (4) and 353 (2) of the SNB Act and also under article 67 of the IT law was booked against RGV at Maddipadu police station.

On November 13, the police warned the filmmaker, ordering him to appear before the investigator at the Maddipadu police station.

RGV had approached the High Court of Andhra Pradeshwho refused to grant interim measures.

The court made it clear that it could not pass an order similar to grant of bail in a quashing petition.

RGV had sought interim orders exempting him from appearing before the investigating officer.

When RGV’s lawyer told the court that the petitioner was at risk of arrest, the judge said the petitioner should file an application for bail.
