Star Search 2024’s Jadon Lim explains the $450 Erhu price and where the instrument comes from

Jadon Lim I might not have won a BYD race last night Star Search 2024 Finalsbut he achieved one thing: virality.

The 23-year-old NTU engineering student showed off his erhu playing skills during the talent segment, but it wasn’t his performance that left everyone speechless.

A close-up of the instrument revealed a remarkable price of $450.

Of course, Singaporeans went wild in the comments, with many mocking the boo-boo and the clip garnering over 200,000 views since the incident.

Jadon is known for being one of the most outspoken in the Top 12 (who can forget her tired glow during the 8days.sg photo shoot?), and he responded to the incident in a @mediacorp.re.dian IG Reel.

“The price was there because it wasn’t my erhu,” he said.

“I borrowed it from the NTU Chinese Orchestra,” Jadon added, before revealing that his own erhu was broken.

In his defense, Jadon said: “It didn’t occur to me to check the price, because why would you?

We can only point the finger at the cameraman.

However, it seems the NTU engineering student doesn’t mind his newfound online fame at all and said: “At least I’m known for something, right?”

Of course, Jadon was tasked with reacting to some hilarious comments.

To the one who said, “Good performance. Who cares about the price?”, Jadon beamed before dryly saying, “Apparently everyone is laughing because it wasn’t great.”

“By the way, I did better in training,” he admitted.

Another user asked: “Who actually zoomed in on this price to make us laugh? »

Jadon’s response? “If I couldn’t play it well, at least I would have made you laugh!”

Then a netizen wrote: “At least we now know that Mediacorp doesn’t use cheap knockoffs. »

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the credit doesn’t belong to Mediacorp.

All things considered, there’s no such thing as bad news, right?
