RALEIGH, North Carolina (WTVD) — The 2024 North Carolina State Fair welcomed nearly a million visitors.

On Monday, crews dismantled all of the rides, games and food stands at the fairgrounds. The fair was open from October 17 to 27.

The final number of participants was approximately 998,926 people. the sixth largest attendance in the history of the show. Tuesday was a record day with nearly 86,000 people coming through the doors on Senior Day.

In total, 280,000 meals or 18 truckloads of food were donated on Anti-Hunger Day. The food is intended for residents of Western North Carolina affected by Helene.

Visitors enjoyed a variety of new entertainment alongside popular returning acts and two exciting new rides: a gigantic 210-foot slide and a 130-foot Candy Adventure Fun House.

There was also a traveling piano that moved around the fairgrounds during performances. The pianist accepted requests to play and sing popular songs, ranging from classic rock to Disney favorites.

72 new dining options have been added for visitors to try.
