Rick: Rodri fully deserved this. A wonderful all-round footballer. Magic for Manchester City and Spain. This decision is a joy, not only because the winner is a great player, but also because he cannot escape being anything other than a hardworking, honest and kind man. Well done, sir.

John: This trophy has become a bit of a joke over the years. Last year, somehow, it went to Messi when Rodri should have won it. This year it is rightly awarded to the most complete footballer of the moment. Enjoy it Rodri. As for Real Madrid, they should be ashamed.

Lida: I totally agree with the award given to Rodri, but there was no appreciation for his club and his teammates, who played a major role in his current situation. I feel disappointed.

Chris: This comes from a Manchester United fan: Rodri’s Ballon d’Or is well deserved. It is extremely disrespectful to Real Madrid to boycott the ceremony simply because one of their players did not win. In fact, it’s pathetic.
