The NIS shared its assessment during a parliamentary audit session, according to statements received by Yonhap Television Rep. Lee Seong-kweun of the ruling People Power Party and Rep. Park Sun-won of the main opposition Democratic Party.

The report said the NIS informed lawmakers that North Korea increased security around Kim Jong-un in response to possible assassination threats.

Measures include the deployment of communications jamming vehicles and the introduction of drone detection equipment. The agency also noted an increase in the number of Kim’s public appearances, totaling 110 since the start of the year, an increase of about 60 percent from the previous year.
