Search begins for Warwickshire’s new police chief

The search for Warwickshire Police’s next Chief Constable is underway.

Police Area Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Philip Seccombe said the right candidate would have “outstanding leadership skills, a public-facing approach and a talent for community engagement” .

The process follows the decision of former police chief Debbie Tedds, retire in September.

She was the first female police chief of the force, established more than 160 years ago.

Mr Seccombe said: “The role of Chief Constable is a central role for the police and for local communities, so it is vital that we find the right person who can take Warwickshire Police forward over the coming years . »

The force’s deputy chief constable, Alex Franklin-Smith, has taken on the top job on an interim basis since Ms Tedds left.

The force said the deadline for applications was noon on November 20.

Once selected, the preferred candidate, together with the PCC, will be required to attend a public confirmation hearing before the Warwickshire Police and Crime Panel.
