Hezbollah in Lebanon has lost much of its offensive power over the past year, according to Israel’s defense minister on Tuesday.

Yoav Gallant said during a visit to a military base in northern Israel that he estimated the Lebanese militia had only about 20 percent of its former arsenal of missiles and other weapons left.

It is not clear on what evidence he reached this conclusion. Hezbollah has not provided information on its stocks.

Hezbollah, allied with Iran, has been firing rockets at Israel since the start of the Gaza war more than a year ago. Israel responded with massive airstrikes and has since launched a ground offensive.
