Deputies from Saint-Jean-Baptiste Parish are looking for a “saw bandit”

ST. JEAN-BAPTISTE PARISH, Louisiana (WGNO) — Deputies with the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office are searching for a “saw bandit” accused of trying to steal money from ATMs.

On Oct. 12, the SJSO reported that a group of people allegedly attempted to break into an ATM at a LaPlace bank using construction tools like a crowbar and a “heavy-duty chop saw.” .

SJSO officials said their attempts to obtain money were unsuccessful; however, the ATMs were damaged.

Through the use of security camera footage, detectives from SJSO, East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office and Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office identified the suspects and the vehicle.

According to the SJSO, Daniela Lucas, 37, was arrested Oct. 23 after detectives identified the owner of the vehicle suspected of being involved in the attempted burglary. Lucas faces a charge of simple burglary.

Three people arrested following Hammond drug investigation

SJSO deputies said they are still looking for Alfred Roy Cobb, 32, in connection with this investigation and other ATM burglaries in other parishes. Detectives said Cobb “is believed to be the orchestrator of the vending machine burglaries.”

Cobb is wanted in St. John the Baptist Parish for simple burglary and criminal access to an ATM.
