Increased stop and search powers have been introduced in parts of Leeds after three men were injured in two separate incidents.

Section 60 powers came into force at 17:40 GMT in the north and west of the city, including areas around Bramley, Armley, Kirkstall and Hyde Park.

West Yorkshire Police took action after a man suffered head injuries and seven men were arrested following reports of a fight in Wortley at around 3pm, followed by a second incident in 5:00 p.m. in the Kirkstall area when two men were injured by bladed weapons.

The force said the powers would remain in place for 24 hours, with the possibility of extending them further.
