The Last Dance pushes Fangs to the UK and Irish box office throne

Sony’s ‘Venom: The Last Dance’ topped the UK and Ireland box office with a £4.3 million ($5.6 million) opening weekend, figures show from Comscore.

Universal’s animated feature film “The Wild Robot” maintained its momentum in the second week with £1.9 million for a gross of £6.4 million. Also in its second session, Paramount’s horror sequel ‘Smile 2’ took third place with £1 million, reaching a total of £4 million.

Three weeks after its release, Paramount’s “Transformers One” landed in fourth place with £377,581 (cum: £3.4 million), while Studiocanal’s “The Apprentice” finished its second week in the top five with £372,778 for a total of £1.5 million.

Warner Bros.’ “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” showed remarkable staying power in its eighth week, adding £367,938 to reach £25.3 million. Signature Entertainment’s horror entry “Terrifier 3” placed seventh in its third week with £269,971 (cum: £2.8 million).

Newcomer “The Room Next Door” (Warner Bros.) debuted in eighth place with £239,043. Mubi’s “The Substance”, in its sixth week, added £150,604 for a total of £3.4 million, while Warner Bros. “Joker: Folie A Deux” reached £10.1 million in week four after collecting £144,712 in 10th place.

Thursday, October 31 will see the release of Indian Telugu-language film “Lucky Baskhar” from Dreamz Entertainment, starring Dulquer Salmaan.

A strong slate arrives this Friday, led by Clint Eastwood’s legal drama “Juror #2” (Warner Bros.) starring Zoey Deutch, Nicholas Hoult and JK Simmons. Universal presents “Anora,” starring Mikey Madison in Sean Baker’s Palme d’Or-winning film at Cannes.

Entertainment Film Distributors premieres Hugh Grant-starrer “Heretic,” while Lionsgate releases “Small Things Like These” starring Cillian Murphy. Family audiences will be able to enjoy the animated film “SuperKlaus” from Altitude and Warner Bros. launches the documentary “Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story”.

Apple Original Films opens Steve McQueen’s World War II-set “Blitz,” starring Saoirse Ronan, while Anime Ltd bows “Godzilla Minus One/Minus Color.”

November 1st is Diwali, the Indian festival of lights, and two major Bollywood films filled with a galaxy of stars are released on this day, both continuing successful franchises. AA Films UK opens horror-comedy ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’, starring Kartik Aaryan, Triptii Dimri, Madhuri Dixit and Vidya Balan. And Moviegoers Entertainment, Rohit Shetty’s crime film ‘Singham Again’, starring Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Deepika Padukone, Akshay Jumar and Tiger Shroff.

Enigma Releasing opens war thriller “The Last Front” and Jade Films Cyprus partition documentary “The Divided Island”.

Lionsgate is releasing the 20th anniversary 4K restoration of “Saw” and Park Circus is releasing the 4K restoration of the 1946 film “Gilda.”
