Realtek to launch RTL8127 10GbE Ethernet controller

teasing

Realtek Semiconductor is set to launch its new 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) controller, the RTL8127, in a bid to promote wider use of 10GbE wired networks. A report from Chiphell Forum indicates that Realtek will launch the RTL8127 10Gbps Ethernet controller, marking a notable advancement in high-speed networking technology. Realtek RTL-81xx Series Ethernet Controller Driver, an update to driver version 11.21.0903.2024-10242024 includes support for the RTL8127 10G PCIe wired network card chipset, demonstrating Realtek’s efforts to expand its 10GbE and improve network performance for mainstream motherboards.

Currently, the main options for mainstream motherboards to support 10G wired networks involve the use of Marvell’s AQtion series chips or, in some cases, server-grade products from Intel. However, these options are often limited by the high cost of chips, which increases the overall price of motherboards. In comparison, Realtek is known for providing affordable and accessible Ethernet controller products. The release of the RTL8127 is expected to play a key role in making 10GbE wired networks more accessible and popular, potentially solving the cost issues faced by current solutions.
