Bensalem traffic stop reveals illegal firearms, contraband

Bensalem, Pa. – A Bensalem Township police officer stopped a dark-colored Mazda Saturday after noticing heavily tinted windows and a traffic violation on Hulmeville Road. The vehicle was stopped on Park Avenue due to the violation, which nearly caused a crash.

During the stop, the driver, Victor Miles, 33 of Flourtown, Pennsylvania, refused to roll down his windows when asked. Officers observed an “AK Style” rifle in the front passenger seat, in plain view, within range of Miles, after approaching the vehicle.

Miles was ordered to exit the vehicle and after a brief standoff, he complied. The rifle had a defaced serial number, a loaded banana-style magazine and a cartridge chambered, indicating it was ready to fire.

The vehicle was impounded and a search recovered an AR-15 type rifle, loaded magazines, shotgun ammunition, a balaclava mask, gloves, a taped hooded sweatshirt, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Miles faces several charges, including gun possession, and is being held in Bucks County on $30,000 bail.
