A body has been found during the search for a missing man.

There was a major emergency service response in the Fordwich area of ​​Canterbury yesterday.

Hamish McEwan was last seen in the Oaten Hill area on October 17.

This morning police confirmed a body had been found during the search for the missing 53-year-old man.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious and the man’s family has been informed,” a spokesperson said.

Search and rescue teams could be seen searching the River Stour yesterday afternoon and a coastguard helicopter was seen circling the area at around 5pm.

Police and emergency services were also on site.

Officers first appealed for help finding the missing man last Wednesday and released a second image of him on Friday as they continued their search.
