Schools in several states ban Crocs, and many institutions say the popular clogs cause students to trip and fall.

Over the years, Crocs has become one of the most popular slip-on shoe brands among adults and children.

According to BloombergHowever, the shoe’s popularity hasn’t been all sunshine and roses for students across the United States. The publication says dozens of schools in 12 states are banning the iconic shoes due to safety concerns.

“Whenever someone mentions a foot injury, the first thing everyone says is, ‘I bet they wore Crocs,'” New York school nurse Oswaldo Luciano said in a statement to Bloomberg.

The safety issue with Crocs reportedly stems from the fact that students did not wear them with the strap behind the heels, which is known online as “sport mode”.

However, other schools say the shoes have also led to an increase in distractions from students playing with their decorative charms. In addition to this, students would also throw their shoes at their classmates.

This isn’t the first time Crocs have been banned either. In July 2023, CSGO players banned from wearing popular shoe on stage at ESL events after organizers changed the rules surrounding team attire.

This wasn’t the first ban in esports either, as a team had to suspend one of their League of Legends World Championship matches because one of their players was wearing Crocs.

The company has partnered with some of the world’s biggest brands over the years, sparking reactions from netizens on social media.

Crocs’ partnership with Pringles brought back two new models in April 2024, which replaced the usual strap model with the the iconic mustache of the Chip mascot. A few months earlier, Crocs had taken social media by storm with the reveal of two new Naruto-themed clogs.
