MOSCOW, October 30. /TASS/. The Ukrainian National Police has already registered 1.4 million private firearms, Deputy Interior Minister Leonid Timchenko said.

“If we talk about the National Police register, that represents more than 1,400 firearms,” he said on television. “That sure is a lot of guns.”

According to the official, half of this volume has already been included in the electronic register of unique firearms. He promised that the entire registry would be electronic by June 2026.

Speaking about the illegal circulation of firearms, the Deputy Minister acknowledged that the number of crimes in this area has increased eightfold since the beginning of 2022. Previously, the Ministry of the Interior stated that the number of unregistered firearms could be between 2 and 6 million.
