Ubisoft is confident that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will launch in February

Assassin's Creed Shadows PS5 PlayStation

Assassin’s Creed Shadows was originally scheduled to release on November 15, but last month Ubisoft announced a big delay to February 14, 2025, in part due to the disappointing reception received by Star Wars Outlaws. It seems like the right move, and the company is already feeling much more confident, assuring investors that Shadows will be “delivered with great experience by mid-February and with great quality.”

This is according to Frédérick Duguet, the company’s corporate finance director, who made the statement during the second quarter earnings conference call (thanks, VGC). When asked if there was a chance the match could be delayed again, Duguet reiterated: “We have good visibility for the match to arrive on time and with great quality.” Ubisoft estimates that delaying the game will add €20 million ($21.7 million) to the total development cost.

Duguet admits that public reception to Outlaw’s lack of polish is partly to blame for Shadows’ delay: “Based on what we saw with Star Wars Outlaws, we need to make sure we deliver a gaming experience impeccable from day one. there are still some bugs, but we have focused and continue to focus on ensuring that the day one experience is well optimized.
