Caronport Community Safety Office signs contract extension – DiscoverMooseJaw.com

The Village of Caronport and the Caronport Community Safety Office have signed a new 40-month contract extension.

The contract extension will ensure that the Caronport Community Safety Office continues its safety initiatives within the village. Since the program took effect in 2021, the village has reported a decline in crime and other offenses in the community.

The Caronport Community Safety Office provides services such as regular patrols, community outreach programs and safety education workshops.

The office also works closely with the RCMP and other provincial agencies to help coordinate security measures in Caronport.

The office is staffed by a retired Moose Jaw police officer, Special Const. Randy Jesse, who is the community safety officer, and the community safety mascot K9 BOO. K9 BOO facilitates public and school interactions to help increase engagement and reduce trauma and anxiety.

“We are deeply grateful for the community’s trust and support,” Jesse said in a press release. “This expansion allows us to intensify our efforts to build a safer Caronport for everyone.”

As part of its duties, the Community Safety Office also coordinates the organization of village emergency measures so that the community is prepared for any emergency or disaster.
