Travel to Thailand set to become easier for Bangladeshis with e-visa available on January 1

Thailand is set to launch e-visa for Bangladeshi citizens from early next year, which will eliminate the requirement for applicants to present their passport and original supporting documents in person at the embassy or Royal Thai Consulate.

Makawadee Sumitmor, Thai Ambassador to Bangladesh, disclosed the information during a meeting with the board of directors of the Bangladesh-Thai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTCCI) today (October 31).

The move is expected to make Thai visa processing for Bangladeshis, especially businessmen, easier and faster, Chander said in a press release.

During the meeting, the BTCCI presented important proposals to the Thai envoy that could facilitate Thai visa processing for Bangladeshis.

The chamber also said it wanted to work towards creating a larger joint venture in Bangladesh and was working towards signing free trade agreements between the two countries.

In response, Ambassador Makawadee Sumitmor assured business leaders to work on their proposals.

She also highlighted the development of business sectors focusing on human security, sustainable development, technology transfer in Bangladesh in the ecotourism sector, medical tourism, etc.

On the occasion, BTCCI Chairman Shams Mahmud said, “Bangladesh is indeed grateful to the Thai envoy for his sincere appreciation and understanding of the trade potential of the two countries and the active role played by BTCCI in strengthening bilateral relations and the Bangladeshi business community is keen to do business with them. Thailand.”

He said the chamber hopes that with the support of the embassy, ​​the BTCCI will be able to send a trade delegation to Thailand early next year, as it did the previous year.

Shams also highlighted the increase in Bangladesh’s exports to Thailand and expected that Bangladesh’s economy would bounce back soon, which would help bilateral trade and investment to a satisfactory level.

BTCCI Senior Vice President Md Munir Hossain said Thailand should seize business opportunities from the new Bangladesh government, which is focusing on getting more FDI in different sectors in the country.
