October 2024 Apple Event – Forbes Verified

At the October Apple Event, the tech giant revealed its latest MacBook Pro (M4) today as part of a week-long series of IT announcements. Apple may have just held its annual iPhone event, but it’s now moving into a different product line and with a slightly different launch strategy. Instead of a typical October Apple event, the company announced last Thursday that it would keep an eye out for various announcements throughout this week, starting on Monday. And now that Wednesday is here, we’re covering the new Macbook And iMac real-time launches.

Rumors have been circulating for some time now. So far we have already seen a new iMacA Mac-Mini and the all-new MacBook Pro models. But we could still see more: Apple may still update the MacBook Air and Mac Studio this week. The tech giant launched a new Advantages of the iPad featuring the powerful M4 chipsets earlier this year.

This is a developing story, so check back often as we share the latest Mac announcements from Apple’s latest event.

As expected, one of the biggest announcements of the week comes in the form of the new MacBook Pro M4 series. The MacBook Pro is now available with the M4, M4 Pro, or the all-new M4 Max, improving its overall performance for demanding tasks. Although the overall design of the MacBook Pro remains the same, there are many improvements under the hood thanks to the M4 series chips. Notably, the MacBook Pro now supports Thunderbolt 5 on models equipped with the M4 Pro and M4 Max chips. Thunderbolt 5 supports data transfer speeds of up to 120 Gbps. So while the average user won’t benefit from it, those who need to run demanding audio and video production sessions from external drives will be able to.

The M4 Max is the most powerful chip in the M4 series so far, offering a 16-core processor with 12 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores. The chip offers up to 128 GB of unified memory, which is impressive. The 14-inch and 16-inch models support up to 48 GB of RAM, with base models offering 16 GB of RAM. The MacBook Pro also gets an updated camera, now offering a 12-megapixel Center Stage camera that Apple says delivers improved video quality, even in difficult lighting conditions. Finally, the latest generation MacBook Pro is available with a nano-texture display option, which helps reduce glare from reflections. The screen also gets brighter, up to 1,000 nits when displaying SDR content, and it maintains the maximum brightness of 1,600 nits in HDR content.

The 14-inch M4 MacBook Pro with a standard M4 chip starts at $1,599. Step up to the M4 Pro and you’ll pay $1,999. The 16-inch MacBook Pro (which only comes with an M4 Pro or M4 Max) starts at $2,499. Pre-orders begin today and shipping begins November 8.

For the first time since 2010, the Mac Mini is getting a facelift. The new Mac Mini (M4) is smaller than before and offers more powerful specs that make it the best compact desktop computer Apple has ever released. Plus, it maintains its affordable price, allowing customers to get a powerful Mac without having to spend a ton of money. According to Apple, the new Mac Mini is less than half the size of the previous generation model, with a footprint of just 5 inches by 5 inches. In fact, it looks a lot like Mac Studiobut reduced in size. Apple says the smaller size is made possible by super-efficient Apple Silicon chips.

Speaking of chips, the new Mac Mini represents the launch of the new M4 Pro chip, expanding the M4 lineup beyond the base M4 that was previously available in the iPad Pro and iMac. Although the new Mac Mini is also available with the base M4 chip, purchasing it with an M4 Pro will enable Thunderbolt 5 connectivity for faster data transfer, and Apple says the M4 Pro offers the fastest single-threaded performance at world, as well as up to 14 cores, including 10 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores. The M4 Pro’s GPU is twice as powerful as the M4’s, which will make both graphics and Apple Intelligence easier. The port selection on the new Mac Mini is also excellent. On the back of the computer, you’ll get three Thunderbolt 4 or Thunderbolt 5 ports, depending on whether you get the M4 or M4 Pro, as well as an HDMI and Ethernet port. Regardless of which model you buy, there are two USB-C ports on the front, which is extremely useful for everyday connectivity that isn’t in place all the time.

The Mac Mini with the M4 chip starts at $599. The base model comes with 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage and can be upgraded to 32GB of RAM and 2TB of storage. The M4 Pro Mac Mini is more expensive, starting at $1,399. This model, however, comes with 24GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, expandable to 64GB of RAM and 8TB of storage.

The first of Apple’s “Mac Week” announcements was a new iMac. The iMac was radically redesigned early in the rollout of the M-series chips, but since then it’s been sort of forgotten. That changes today, with an iMac that retains the same colorful design as before, but with a series of new features that make it the most powerful Apple desktop available. Notably, the new iMac gets Apple’s M4 chip, its best core M-series chip yet, and a relatively big upgrade over the processing power of the previous iMac. This is accompanied by a new 12 MP Center Stage camera and up to four Thunderbolt 4 ports. The base model of the new iMac has an M4 chip with an 8-core CPU and an 8-core GPU. If you need more power, there is an option for a 10-core CPU and a 10-core GPU, which should perform slightly better. RAM ranges from 16GB to 32GB. Finally, it comes in a few new colors, expanding the already vibrant range of options.

Along with the new iMac, some Apple accessories are also getting an update. THE Magic Keyboard, Magic pad And Magic mouse those included with the iMac may retain their overall design, but now offer a USB-C port. Yes, that means the Magic Mouse has finally been updated, but only to include a USB-C port on the bottom. The iMac M4 starts at $1,199 and increases in price depending on the features you choose. You can get it for pre-order now, with shipping starting November 8.
