Vandals have damaged political signs at the Boone County GOP headquarters in Columbia over the past two weeks. Party leaders said people also stole Republican political signs throughout the county. Republican candidate for Boone County commissioner Cheri Toalson Reisch said vandalism is dirty politics.

Toalson Reisch said, “This happened on the Business Loop and in downtown Columbia. Signs are being stolen all over Boone County.

Toalson Reisch estimated that vandals caused more than $1,000 in damage by spray-painting Republican political signs over the past two weeks. Toalson Reisch reported the vandalism to the Columbia Police Department. Vandals spray-painted a swastika and a sexual slur.

Toalson Reisch said: “Well, that’s pathetic. This is dirty, dirty politics. I have witnessed dirty politics time and time again. My own signs have been stolen throughout my community.

Vandals damaged 5 large signs at the Boone County GOP headquarters at 1900 North Providence Road, Columbia. Volunteer Gerald Burns discovered the vandalism Thursday morning.

Burns said, “I’m just glad they didn’t break any windows or do anything really drastic.” We must fight the good fight.
