No sign of BC grandmother as ground search ends

Police continue to follow up on information and ground searches for her have ended.

Search and rescue team members have completed operations in their search for a missing grandmother after her car was found abandoned on a washed out road near Harrison Lake earlier this week.

Jane Whitehouse, 82, was reported missing on October 25. She was last seen at 10:10 a.m. in Aldergrove, British Columbia.

On Sunday, the woman’s gray Dodge Grand Caravan (license plate CP6 01A) was found abandoned on a forest road 150 kilometers from where she was last seen.

A man who was in the area at the time encountered his vehicle on Harrison East Forest Service Road, which runs along the east shore of Harrison Lake.

He called the police and the search for the woman began.

Members of Kent Harrison Search and Rescue and Central Fraser Valley Search and Rescue spent three days searching for any sign of her. Both of the woman’s shoes were found in the area, but crews were unable to locate the White House.

Cap. Langley RCMP officer Craig van Herk confirmed that the ground search was completed Wednesday, but that the police investigation was still “very much” ongoing and active.

“We continue to closely monitor every piece of information, advice and video we receive,” van Herk said.

Police released a photo of Whitehouse taken by a surveillance camera. It shows her wearing a green jacket.

“We continue to appeal to the public to help us because we hope someone has seen her or has information that can help,” van Herk said.

Anyone with information about Whitehouse is asked to contact police.
