Update: AMD has officially announced the Ryzen 7 9800X3Dlaunched at $479.

Original story: It’s no secret that AMD Ryzen 9000X3D processors are fast approaching, with a November 7 launch date. which Whether the 9000 series 3D V-Cache processor will launch remains an open question, although many have speculated that it will be a Ryzen 7 9800X3D, especially because we have seen its leaked performance figures. It appears that these assumptions are now officially verified, but not by AMD.

It was not AMD but the motherboard manufacturers who let this information slip, or rather shouted it from the rooftops. Gigabyte let this slip by showing an 8-core 9800X3D on its BIOS page while announcing its new X3D Turbo mode (which, by the way, it seems just disables SMT).

Gigabyte’s possible slippage is nothing compared to MSI’s rooftop announcement, as the company says he is “excited to introduce the upcoming AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D.” This is followed by four more named mentions of the 9800X3D in its three-paragraph article that reads more like an AMD processor announcement than a motherboard compatibility announcement.

It’s also nothing compared to Similar announcement from ASRockwhich, to be fair to ASRock, at least feels more like a compatibility announcement than a processor release announcement. The company states that “its AM5 series motherboards are fully compatible with the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor, maximizing its impressive gaming performance.”

And, if we needed it to be even clearer, ASRock continues: “The AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D is the first model in the 9000X3D processor series.”

I don’t know if it’s AMD giving the go-ahead, if motherboard makers are spotting loopholes in an embargo, or if it’s just a case of caution’s excitement in the wind. Either way – it doesn’t matter – we now have confirmation that it will be the Ryzen 7 9800X3D hitting the market next week.

This cache-intensive processor could end up being one of best processors for gaming– his predecessor, after all, is currently THE best gaming processor. And if the recent leaked Geekbench results of the 9800X3D are to be believed, we could see a considerable increase in performance compared to the Ryzen 7 7800X3D. However, we still have no official word on specifications or actual gaming performance.

We also have no official word on pricing. However, recent rumors (via VideoCardz) suggest that the 9800X3D will cost $30 more than the 7800X3D at launch, which would certainly prove that PC Gamer’s hardware overlord Dave James was still prescient with his prediction that 9000X3D chips won’t be cheap because “AMD is in a position where it can charge whatever it wants for its goose that lays the golden eggs.”

We’ll have to wait for official word from AMD on this, however. Or, maybe pricing information will come from MSI, ASRock, and Gigabyte. Why not, eh?
