Carol Lombardini leaves her position as president of the AMPTP

After more than 40 years with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, Carole Lombardini is preparing to leave her role as chief negotiator of employment contracts for major Hollywood studios and streamers.

Lombardini had long planned to retire in 2025, AMPTP confirmed. She will remain at the helm while the organization searches for her successor.

“We are extremely grateful to Carol for her many years of leadership at AMPTP and wish her the best in her retirement,” the organization said in a statement. “She has been a constant and invaluable advocate at the bargaining table, strengthening relationships with our union partners every step of the way. We are pleased that Carol is not going far as she will continue to serve as President while we continue the extensive search for her successor, and will then transition into an advisory role as we continue our transition to the next generation of leaders at the AMPTP.

Lombardini joined AMPTP at its inception in 1982 as a powerful bargaining unit representing all of Hollywood’s major studios. She was promoted to president in 2009 following the death of her longtime leader, Nick Counter.

The Hollywood Reporter was the first to break the news of Lombardini’s retirement.
