A highway traffic management worker was seriously injured when he was struck by a cone driven by a Mercedes driver, police said.

While the highways crew were closing two lanes of the northbound M6 near Knutsford services at around 9.30pm on October 18, a driver crashed into one of the cones, which then hit the worker.

Cheshire Police said the worker suffered serious facial injuries.

The driver of the white car, believed to be a 2012 model Mercedes, failed to stop at the scene.
