Turner: I can’t wait to make memories here – News

Reflecting on the game as a whole, Turner said: “At the start of the game we were pretty up front, defending from the front, and it ended up turning into a goal.

“After making changes, sometimes the state of the game can change a little bit, and I think that’s exactly what happened.

“If I could be a little critical of us tonight, we didn’t do the best job, especially in the first half, getting rid of the ball, clearing the ball, clearing the danger, putting it in row Z and do what we need to do. So if we could have sorted that out, I think maybe we wouldn’t have conceded the first goal.

“But yeah, the answer, I mean, come on. In the second half we were so far ahead. The back line was incredible tonight. I never really felt super threatened in the second half. The guys played wonderfully up front. So back to back, great performance and yes, lift your legs, recover and do it again on Saturday.

Winning back-to-back games in the span of three days is an achievement in itself, although Turner sees it as much more than that: a way to build and nurture a winning culture. “You have to earn that feeling of victory.

“We’ve had a few games this season where we’ve done so many brilliant things and not gotten results.

“Now that the results are starting to change for us, it’s a good feeling and you can see the guys feeling that energy, feeding off the crowd, feeding off each other, really getting to know each other and keeping each other more also high and demanding standards, but in a positive way.

“The culture is really good at the moment, but as we know, in this business it’s about results and you’re only as good as your last game. We are finished. We can put this one to bed and look forward to building.
