Agatha, Jen and Billy continue on their way but they quickly realize that it is a circle. Before Agatha decides to start all over again in hopes of making it to the end, Billy puts on his shoes and the three are transported to the next trial. There, Jen realizes the truth about what happened to her: it was Agatha who cast the spell on her. She casts a release spell to regain her powers and she disappears despite getting what she wanted on the road. Agatha then decides to help Billy find Tommy’s soul and he manages to move it to another unknown body.

Now alone, Agatha finds an old seed in her medallion, plants it in the ground and manages to complete the test. She ends up returning home, where Rio is waiting for her, who notices that she has not abandoned Billy. Agatha says that the road should have given her the prize of gaining power, but then realizes that it doesn’t work that way. Rio, who wants to take Agatha back, fights her, but Billy arrives to save Agatha and gives her some of his power.

Rio says one of them can leave and the other must stay. Agatha initially sets out to sacrifice Billy, but after mentioning Nicholas, she turns and kisses Rio, literally giving herself a kiss of death and sacrificing her life for Billy. Billy returns home and enters his room where he realizes that he has different pieces of road around him when he hears Agatha’s laughter…

But wait, a flashback!

We’re now in the final episode, which kicks things off with a flashback. A young Agatha is pregnant and runs alone through a forest. About to give birth, she sees Death coming towards her and begs her not to take Nicolas. Death tells her that all she can give her is more time, for which Agatha is grateful.

They begin traveling together, with Agatha tricking the witches into hitting her with their powers, allowing her to absorb them and kill them in the process. As Nicholas grows up, we discover that he created an original version of the Witches’ Ballad while they were walking down a road together. The song later changes to the current form of the Witches’ Ballad. One night, Death arrives and takes Nicholas away, leaving Agatha to mourn her son and search for more power.

Over the decades, Agatha continues to use the Witches’ Ballad and the idea of the road as a means to gain control of witches’ powers. She tricks them into “summoning” the route with her, but when they fail, she provokes them, causing them to hit her with her power and allowing her to absorb it.

Which brings us back to the present day…

When we see the new coven trying to pave the way from the first episode. But this time, Agatha is surprised that the road is actually real and reenacts what happened. Bowl was able to make him real with his powers, leading him to realize that he is the son of the witch Scarlett/Wanda Maximoff.

Back in Billy’s room, he is shocked to see Agatha, who is now a ghost. She tells him the truth about what happened and how he was able to create the route, causing Billy to feel guilty for all the lives lost along the way. Agatha, however, points out that he actually saved a life since Jen regained her power and was freed instead of dying as Agatha had originally planned. Agatha notes that he has to get used to this feeling, but Billy counters by saying that he will never get used to it.

He immediately returns to Agatha’s house, where he uses the locket and his spell book to attempt to banish Agatha’s ghost. Agatha is able to snatch the locket from him and she admits that she is afraid to cross completely because it would mean she would have to face Nicholas.

Billy decides to work with Agatha in an effort to try and find Tommy, allowing Agatha to stay as a ghost and work with Billy as her spirit guide. He uses his powers to get rid of the road gate, leaving behind the names of Sharon, Alice and Lilia as a tribute to their sacrifices. The new duo leaves the basement and returns to the real world where they hope to finally find Tommy.

Wait, is that it?!

Unfortunately for us, the Witches’ Route is now locked forever and we are officially at the end of it. However, given that this is just the beginning of Billy’s journey and Tommy is still out there, there is likely more to come for this new clan. Maybe even another type of team? Who knows…we’ll have to wait and see.
