Young Thug co-defendants’ final plea deals updated as RICO trial drags on

The rest two defendants in the YSL trial have not yet agreed to a plea deal as the trial is set to resume Monday.

Deamonte Kendrick, also known as Yak Gotti, and Shannon Stillwell, also known as SB, face multiple charges related to conspiracy and participation in racketeering in criminal activities of street gangs, as well as drug and firearms offences.

Prosecutors say Kendrick and Stillwell were part of a gang called YSL.

They were initially judged with Young thugreal name Jeffery Williams, and three others. All four reached plea deals this week.

The State asked Kendrick to plead guilty to conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act and willful participation in street gang activity. They proposed reducing his murder charge to voluntary manslaughter. Under the terms of the agreement, the state would recommend that he be sentenced to 15 years in prison and five years of probation on all counts. He would serve the sentences concurrently.

The state would also agree not to prosecute Kendrick for the other charges he faced.

Stillwell was sentenced to 40 years in prison and 20 years of probation. The two murder charges he faced would be reduced to voluntary manslaughter.

Both defendants face life imprisonment and additional years in prison.

Kendrick and Stillwell have not yet accepted offers from the state.

Whitaker talked about what would happen if they rejected the plea deals.

“Obviously each of you has the right to proceed with the trial, you know what you are doing, you all have very competent attorneys representing you who clearly care passionately about you all personally and presenting your best case ” Whitaker said. said. “But ultimately it’s going to be up to the jury, and you can’t know what a jury is going to do.”

The state attempted to withdraw the bids in court. Whitaker questioned whether defense attorneys had enough time to negotiate.

“Given that the State spent all day negotiating Mr. Williams’ plea bargain, unsuccessfully, I don’t know if Mr. Weinstein or Mr. Schardt could have negotiated with you today,” he said. he added.

Whitaker asked the state to keep the agreement open a little longer. Prosecutors said they would consult with the Fulton County prosecutor. Fani Willis.

If Kendrick and Stillwell do not accept their plea deals, the trial is expected to resume Monday.
