New York Jets compare Garrett Wilson’s stunt scoring to Odell Beckham Jr.

So it was New York Jets Is wide receiver Garrett Wilson’s incredible one-handed touchdown really better than former New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.’s touchdown catch many years ago?

That was one of the topics of discussion when the Jets met with the media following their 21-13 victory over the Houston Texans THURSDAY.

Wilson, when asked, demurred, saying Beckham’s catch was better. But then a reporter reminded him that the Giants lost that game and he said, “All right. GOOD.”

“I’m just happy I was able to make a play for my teammates,” Wilson said.

In the fourth quarter of Thursday’s game Wilson made one of the most incredible captures anyone will ever see. Running, Wilson turned around, caught the football with his right hand and brought the ball in for what became the go-ahead touchdown.

The catch – which was initially ruled incomplete but overturned after it was determined Wilson had planted his left foot and shin before his left knee went out of bounds, establishing possession as he planted his right foot – drew immediate comparisons to Beckham’s incredible catch against the Dallas Cowboys.

This reception, which took place in 2014, also took place during a prime-time game at Met Life Stadium and had a similar development.

So, here’s Wilson’s trap:

And here’s Beckham’s take:

So who did the best? Everyone had an opinion, including Jets defenders like Sauce Gardner.

"Man, that was a tough game," Gardner said.. “It was good defense. Man, you know it’s not easy, especially if you have to face someone who can do weird things like Garrett, you know what I mean? He is different. This take is up there with…I’m not going to say it’s better than Odell’s. I really have to analyze Odell’s capture one more time, you know what I mean?

Cornerback DJ Reed walked there during an interview with SNY as Wilson stood nearby.

“He’s a bad boy there,” Reed said to SNY while pointing to Wilson. “He’s a bad man. It’s the catch of the year. …It’s better than catching Odell for real, I’ve never seen anything like it. For it to be Thursday night, prime time, that’s what these guys are.

Interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich was working with the referee to try to get him to call the play.

“Oh my God,” Ulbrich said. “I mean, I was talking to the referee when they were reviewing it and I was like, ‘Just for the sake of posterity, you have to say this is right so it makes history.’ I mean that would rival Odell’s (Beckham Jr.) take. It was incredible.

Wide receiver Davante Adams – who was being evaluated for a concussion during the game – was ready to agree to a new shoe deal with Wilson.

“I told him he might get fired from Adidas after this one,” he said. “That one looked like it was headed to Jumpman with me, so we’ll see.” I’m going to talk to some people about it, but they might — I’m not going to say they’re going to replace the logo because I know Mike (Michael Jordan) might not like me saying that. But it was a tough take and I really saw it about three minutes ago.

Wilson remembers seeing Beckham’s capture in his family room in Texas when he was a child. He said his father was a Cowboys fan and was upset after the catch. He was generally humble after the game and said he was happy to be able to do something to help his team win.

Adams, a veteran who made big catches like that, seemed to have the moment figured out.

“To be able to do that in front of 80,000 and maybe millions of people watching at home, it’s special,” he said.
