A man attempted to smuggle a condom filled with cocaine and ketamine into Creamfields. Liam George, from Twynygarrag, Treharris, Merthyr Tydfil, had attended the festival in Daresbury on Friday August 26, 2022.

The 27-year-old man was brought to the attention of police after positive indication of a drug dog around 7:45 p.m. He was taken to a private search area by officers who found his pupils were enlarged and he was extremely agitated.

When questioned, George admitted he had a condom filled with illegal drugs hidden in his anus. He then attempted to remove the wrapper, causing the condom to break. Despite the package being slammed, officers were able to recover several snap bags containing cocaine and ketamine.

George was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drug trafficking. During his interrogation, he responded without comment to all the questions asked to him by the agents.

Cheshire Police said that despite his silence, he was later charged with possession with intent to supply class A drugs (cocaine) and possession with intent to supply class B drugs (ketamine). He appeared at Chester Crown Court on Thursday October 24 where he pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply Class A and B drugs.

Following the hearing, Police Constable Neil Fleming, who led the investigation, said: “I welcome the sentence handed down to George and hope it serves as a warning to those considering bringing illegal drugs into Cheshire. Each year, before the festival, we work hard to ensure that all participants are fully aware of the consequences they will face if they bring illegal drugs onto the site.

“They also have plenty of opportunities to throw the drugs into the surrender bins before going through the search process. Yet despite all the warnings, George still came in thinking he could make a quick buck by selling illegal drugs. As a result, he now faces a prison sentence.

Liam George will be sentenced on December 9.
