Muthersbaugh was named the Hockey Commissioners’ Association Rookie of the Month for October on Friday. In seven October games, Muthersbaugh had six goals and seven assists. He won back-to-back ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week awards and was named ECACH Forward of the Week on October 21 after a seven-point, two-game weekend against Mercyhurst. On Thursday, Muthersbaugh was named ECACH Forward and Rookie of the Month for October.

Muthesbaugh is the first Union player to be honored by the HCA since Mike Vecchione was honored in October 2016. He also becomes the first Union rookie to be recognized since Eli Lichtenwald was honored in December 2013 .
