PHOENIX (AZFamille) — Construction projects will cause the closure of several major highways, affecting drivers who plan to travel to and from the East Valley this weekend.

According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, portions of US 60, Loop 202 (Red Mountain and Santan) and I-17 will be closed as crews continue their improvement projects.

Closures planned for November 1 to 4:

• US 60 westbound closed between Loop 101 Price and I-10 in Tempe from 10:00 p.m. Friday to 7:00 p.m. Saturday for signal work.
• US 60 eastbound will be closed between I-10 and Mill Avenue in Tempe from 10 p.m. Saturday to 4 a.m. Monday for bridge and signal work.
• I-17 southbound closed between Peoria and Dunlap avenues from 10 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday for work on Valley Metro’s light rail bridge over the highway.
• Loop 202 eastbound Red Mountain closed between the I-10/SR 51 “Mini-Stack” interchange and Priest Drive from 9 p.m. Friday to 3 p.m. Saturday for road sealing.
• Loop 202 westbound Red Mountain closed between Priest Drive and the I-10/SR 51 “Mini-Stack” interchange from 9 p.m. Saturday to 3 p.m. Sunday for road sealing.
• Eastbound Loop 202 Santan closed between Loop 101 Price and Alma School Road in the Chandler area from 12:01 a.m. to noon Sunday for a widening project.
• I-10 westbound left two lanes closed between Fairway Drive and Dysart Road in the West Valley from 3 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday for maintenance.

Ramps that will be closed:

• Westbound US 60 on-ramps at Country Club Drive, Alma School Road, and Dobson Road
• All I-10 ramps to eastbound US 60
• Westbound I-10 on-ramp at Baseline Road
• Southbound SR 143 ramp to eastbound I-10
• Southbound I-17 on-ramps at Greenway, Thunderbird and Cactus roads
• All on- and off-ramps from I-10 to Broadway Road are closed from 8 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday.
• Southbound Loop 101 serves Eastbound Loop 202

Additionally, westbound I-10 will be reduced to two lanes between Loop 202 Santan and Elliot Road from 10 p.m. Saturday to 4 a.m. Monday for roadway markings.

For those looking to head north to see snow in the High Country this weekend, northbound travel will not be affected by any closures. However, southbound I-17 will be reduced to one lane during most nighttime hours between Carefree Highway and Loop 303.

ADOT recommends not using local streets or neighborhoods to bypass I-17 construction.

For East Valley drivers who need to travel to the airport or downtown Phoenix, ADOT recommends using Loop 101 northbound to Loop 202 Red Mountain westbound. If you need to bypass the eastbound US 60 closure, use Loop 202 Santan in Chandler to Loop 101 Price northbound to get back on US 60.
