Hoka’s first-ever hiking shoe is suddenly a masterclass in retro style

Hoka may have built its brand on heavily cushioned running shoes, however, the company has now been into hiking shoes for almost a decade.

One of its first forays into the category, and the very first shoewas a silhouette called the Tor Summit WP that debuted in 2015.

At the time, the design was unique because it mixed the properties of a traditional hiker (waterproofing and Vibram MegaGrip outsole) with a low-top upper and one of Hoka’s famous cushy, lightweight midsoles.

As such, Tor Summit appealed to day hikers who wanted some technical knowledge without the essentials of full gear. hiking shoe.

Resurrected as a retro hiker

While the original Tor Summit has been replaced by models like the Kaha And Anacapathe shoe recently resurfaced as a vintage-inspired silhouette for light trails and city streets. And without the current midsole, you’d think Hoka plucked it from the Swiss Alps, circa 1970.
