This Sunday marks the end of summer time while most people across the WE are moving backwards, setting their clocks back an hour.

This is your notice that the time change is coming. Here’s what you need to know about Daylight Saving Time ending and how to prepare yourself and your family before it happens.

When does daylight saving time end?

Clocks will officially go forward one hour at 2 a.m. Sunday.

If you use your smartphone as an alarm, you don’t need to do anything. However, if an analog or digital clock not connected to Wi-Fi reminds you of your alarm, move the clock forward an hour before bed.

THE HISTORY OF SUMMER TIME

Daylight saving time is observed from the second Sunday in March to the first Sunday in November, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation. USDOT has overseen the time change since 1966, when Congress transferred responsibility to the Interstate Commerce Commission.

Where does the time change in the United States?

Anywhere in the United States except Hawaii and most of Arizonaobserve the time change; these states stay on standard time year-round. To make things even more confusing, the Navajo Nation in Arizona observes daylight saving time. Certain U.S. territories, including Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands do not change their clocks twice a year.

There have been several attempts to make DST the year-round standard through Sun Protection Act. However, the bill has not yet passed the House or the President’s office to become law.

How Parents Can Help Their Kids Adjust to the End of Daylight Saving Time

Switching to standard time and vice versa can be difficult for toddlers and their parents. Several sleep experts have recommendations to help your children adjust to the time change.

Baby Sleep Gurus from “Moms on Call” have five steps to change to standard timestarting with putting your child to bed at their usual time on Saturday evening.

According to Moms on Call, the transition could take about three days until the family adjusts to the time change.

The biggest suggestion from all sleep experts is to stick to your bedtime routine, whether it’s a bottle, a bath and a book or any other command that suits you. your little one.
