Man arrested on suspicion of murder in Denver Civic Center apartment

A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder after police found woman dead in apartment in Denver’s Civic Center neighborhood.

Officers responded to reports of a disturbance and possible drug emergency at apartment in 800 block of North Acoma Street at 10:22 p.m. on Oct. 20, according to the Denver Police Department.

A man, later identified as Angel Armijo, was found near the entrance to the apartment and he asked first responders to check on his friend inside the apartment before he was transported to the hospital.

Police found the body of Natalia Carter, 35, in the apartment.

Investigators later discovered that Carter had suffered injuries “consistent with significant trauma” and arrested Armijo.

Armijo is in custody at the downtown detention center. The date of his next court appearance was not available Friday.
