Illegal riding of dirt bikes leads to two arrests in Waterbury

WATERBURY, Conn. (WFSB) – Two suspects were arrested for illegal use of dirt bikes after Waterbury police continued their efforts to ban the operation of illegal dirt bikes and ATVs in the city.

On October 29, the Waterbury Auto Theft Unit located an illegal dirt bike on Jersey Street and arrested the driver, Juan Aucapina, 29, of Waterbury. Aucpina is charged with illegally operating an ATV.

The next day, October 30, the Waterbury Auto Theft Unit arrested Melvin Muralles-Jienez, 26, of Waterbury and charged with illegally operating an ATV.

The Waterbury Police Department asks residents to report any illegal ATV or dirt bike activity to Crime Stoppers at (203-755-1234).

According to a Waterbury Police news release, residents can earn up to $200 by providing anonymous information leading to the arrest and/or seizure of illegal ATVs being used on city streets or parks.
