November 1 – Benson joins optional morning workout

Zach Benson (lower body) was on the ice for an optional morning skate Friday, his first time with his teammates since playing in a win over Chicago on Oct. 19.

Benson played through his injury since the start of the season before the Sabers made the decision to shut him down before their game against Dallas on October 22. He skated alone on Thursday, which Ruff said was “his first real hard day back on the ice.”

“My conversation with him, he feels a lot better,” Ruff said. “So, very encouraging.”

Ruff said he expects Benson to be available to play next week.

“The last two days have been a lot better,” Benson said. “I feel really good now, so I’m just excited to be back on the ice.”
