Jeffery Lamar Williams, aka rapper Young Thug, was released from prison Thursday evening after pleading guilty to criminal gang involvement, drugs and firearms charges.

The Grammy Award winner was sentenced to two and a half years in prison after being arrested on racketeering and gang-related charges. Thus ends the longest criminal trial in Georgian history.

Reacting to the news in a text message to WSB-TV, Thug’s girlfriend Mariah The Scientist said it was “the greatest opportunity” and that they were grateful to God.

“Thank you God, thank you God. This is more than we prayed for. We are very grateful, this is the greatest opportunity that has ever been presented to us and we are very grateful.

The R&B singer also thanked Superior Court Judge Paige Whitaker and the other attorneys who worked on the case.

“Thank you to Judge Paige Whitaker for giving us the opportunity to move forward with our lives! Thank you God. Thank you Brian Steel and Keith Adams and all the attorneys who are working tirelessly on this case. THANK YOU! I can’t say it enough, I can’t thank you enough for this. You changed our lives, Jeffery’s and mine. Thank you to everyone who was there for us, to all the fans, who believed in us and prayed for us.

Unraveling the mystery behind the name Mariah the Scientist

Mariah Buckles aka Mariah the Scientist debuted with the album Master in 2019 and continued to give hits like Beetle juice, Thanks 4 Nothing, And Reminders.

She is known for her relationship with rapper Young Thug. The couple sparked dating rumors in 2021. Their relationship was confirmed when Mariah openly showed some love for her boyfriend during a performance at Outside Lands in San Francisco.

“Now you know I have a man. He locked up. Free my baby daddy! Mariah spoke to her fans.

Besides his relationship, the “scientific” part of his name has often been asked about in interviews. Revealing the reason, Mariah explained in one of her interviews that she chose biology as her subject in college, which earned her the name Maria The Scientist.

The singer also revealed how later in her career she decided to drop out of school and pursue music.

“So no, Mariah The Scientist is not really a singer.”

she tells Wake Check and adds,

“She’s a fucking scientist and then she decided to make music.”

In one of the other interviews, Mariah also explained that those close to her liked to call her by that name and so she never really thought about changing it.

Charges brought against rapper Young Thug

Young Thug pleaded guilty to six charges, one for engaging in criminal street activity, three drug charges for violating the Georgia Controlled Substances Act, one for possession of a firearm during commission of a felony and another for possession of a machine gun.

According to the plea agreement, the rapper will serve 15 years of probation.

Once probation is completed without any rule violations, an additional 20 years will be commuted for time served. In the event that the singer is caught violating the conditions, he will have to serve an additional 20 years to any sentence imposed by the court.
